Rocket League Showdown ⚽💥🚗💨

What a save! What a save! What a save!

Last night we hosted a Rocket League tournament in our office to see who has the best Rocket League game in Montreal. Players, Montrealers and AmpMe team members alike came together to enjoy some tasty pizza, beer and friendly competition!

Rocket League Tournament

At AmpMe, we believe in bringing people together, whether that be through music or video games 😜, and we love to find excuses to just hang out and use our awesome 90” TV and PlayStation😉.   A Rocket League tournament felt like the perfect excuse to welcome people into our new downtown office and introduce people to the AmpMe culture: flexible work environment, challenging and exciting work, beer and pizza, and most of all, tons of LOLs.

Sixteen teams of two players competed in four rounds to see who had the best game, and the competition was intense. You would think that Rocket League would be a walk in the park for us, considering the fact that we are building tech that no one’s ever created before, but our CTO, André-Philippe Paquet, put it best when he said “We’re playing car league, while [the other players] play rocket league.”

The competition between Mirage Prestige vs. Mirage Quantum and Echoes vs. Rocket Scientists, who battled it out in the semifinals was 🔥. Congratulations to Mirage Quantum – Simon Doucet & Fred Demers – who came out on top and snagged first place. They each got to go home with Amazon gift cards, AmpMe bluetooth speakers, some awesome AmpMe swag and definitive bragging rights.

Clearly, we need to spend more time practicing our aerials and less time flying drones. We’re all about teamwork, collaboration and learning from the best here, so hopefully we’ll soon be as good as the pros.

Last night was definitely one for the books – thanks to all the players who came out, taught us a thing or two about Rocket League and made the tournament so much fun.

We hope all the players enjoy their AmpMe speakers, swag and will come back for round two. That is, once we’ve got a chance to practice and seriously step up our  ⚽💥🚗💨  game.
