André-Philippe, or as we call him, AP, is our resident Chief Technology Officer and our go-to tech guy. He’s an OG AmpMe employee, and a key player in the success of AmpMe. When he’s not working with the devs, you can find him shooting a nerf gun or two 😂 Meet AP:

Favorite Spotify Playlist: Creamy Tracks
I love dreamy and melodic EDM and recently found the “Creamy tracks” Spotify playlist which I always revisit when I don’t know what to listen to. I also love my private “Awesome tracks” playlist, a collection of different songs I listen to on repeat over time (a lot of EDM, but also of some classics from my youth, like Linkin Park).
If you could hang out with one musical artist, who would it be and why:
Probably an EDM musician like Porter Robinson to understand how they come up with and create some of the songs I listen to so much. I always wanted to compose and mix electronic music, which I started listening to when I was about 16 while coding in my parent’s basement.
Tell us a little about yourself:
I’m the CTO of AmpMe and I oversee the technology and the team building IT. My day-to-day goes from developing, recruiting, planning, and thinking about how we can solve our next challenge!
I was born with a computer already in my home (the first Macintosh!). When I was young, I loved disassembling everything that had electronics to learn how they worked. (To my parent’s disarray, reassembling was not always a viable option.) I started coding when I was about 16 and even started making a little money by creating and managing websites. I went to college for computer science in Québec City, and then moved to Montréal to do my software engineering degree. I started working with Martin-Luc (AmpMe’s CEO) during my last internship, which got me hooked to the startup world!
I love learning new things, especially new programming languages and technologies, and then trying to see how they can solve our challenges. I try to learn at least one new programming language or new technology per year just to keep up-to-date. In my free times, I bike, but also like reading science fiction and think/read/watch about how our future may look like (our society, technology, singularity, etc.) If you’re interested in technology, the future and coding you should definitely ready this Elon Musk series of blog posts, the books Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think and Accelerando (Singularity), and Ray Kurzweil’s TED Talk.
I got involved in AmpMe at the very beginning. I loved the complexity of the different challenges right away that we faced: the audio synchronization, peer-to-peer communication, and high performance requirement.

What’s the Dev Team like?
I like to say that the team at AmpMe is like a second family, where we have fun together and help each other to make the tech and product better!

What’s a highlight from your time at AmpMe?
Hard to come up with one single highlight… I would say that the most memorable moments were probably the different parties we had!
